Objectives:
The introduction of the students to issues related to Tropical and Geographical Medicine. Second important objective of the course is for the students to practice in preparing and presenting a medical topic to an audience.

Prerequisites: None

Course contents:
Presentation of medical problems and diseases mainly, but not only, related to tropical areas. A number of diseases are presented, not necessarily the same ones every year, and emphasis is given on the conditions that favor the introduction, development and spread of pathogens and their vectors in relation to climate (and climate changes), way of life, economic and hygiene standards, as well as the epidemiology of such diseases, their monitoring and prophylactic measures. Pathogens that can be used in Bioterrorism are introduced. Health Organizations are presented.

Teaching methods: Lectures and presentations by professors and students.

Assessment methods: The students are given/choose a topic and are asked to prepare a presentation and present it to the class. They are assessed according to their presentation and the quality of the material they present.
